February is a time of hibernation, a time to watch winter turn to early spring, a time to get cozy and plan ahead for the warmer months to come. We saw snow in the early part of the month, but not too much so far - looks like it's a warm season this year.

|
|
As the month progressed, snow turned to rain and rainbows, with even some first bulbs shooting up green coming through the ground.
|
|
|
|
As we round it out through 28 days, the sun is shining brightly, and the thermometer will even hit 70 by the last day of the month. So what do pioneers do out on the homestead during these cool wet months when the garden isn't ready for a deep dive yet? Well, we start to choose our seeds for the upcoming season, from vegetables and flowers to, of course, cannabis for our personal garden.

So far we have chosen Amnesia, Mimosa and Scrambler Haze, from our friends at Blimburn Seed Co. (https://blimburnseeds.com), which we already placed lovingly on the lap of the goddess, Ganja Ma. More choices from other friendly breeders to come soon!

While cozy in the living room next to the blazing woodstove, it also is a perfect time to start planning events to come.

First, of course, is the upcoming Club Swami Salon on March 6th, which will include our friend Marty Clein from Martyjuana brand flowers from Mendocino. We are excited to party at the new venue, Galleria Boheme, in San Francisco's Mission district.

Lots and lots of planning is being devoted to The Mendo Cup, which doesn't happen until May 4th, but it takes time to create such an important event.

A team of incredible Judges has formed, vendor booths are being arranged. and of course our famous Mendocino farmers are preparing their best flowers to enter into this one-of-a-kind competition.
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
Swami is a voracious reader, as you may know, and he has been busy working his way through thick historical novels and spiritual tomes, cozy with the cat and dog cuddled up with him. Our library is a rare commodity in this digital age, but hey, we are allowed to act like ancients!
|
|
|
|
|
Speaking of which, Nikki turned 70 this month! As the earth comes back to life and the vibrant spring approaches, may we all feel that fresh joy, peace and love around us. Focus on the positive - feel the love.
