It’s clear why it’s called the Merry Month of May - the best time of the year! The landscape is lush, the creeks are rushing with fresh mountain water and humans and animals emerge from winter hibernation into the glorious sunshine.

An occasional shower may water the gardens, encouraging wildflowers to paint the meadow in swaths of purple, gold, pink and white.
|
|
|
|
It is a time for community to gather as we pull ourselves away from cozy woodstove fires, don some lightweight clothing and come together in celebration. The 2nd Mendo Cup at the beginning of May was the perfect way to honor our best licensed cannabis cultivators in the County while having a whole lot of fun.
|
|
|
|
Kudos to Arcanna Flowers/River Txai Farms for winning 1st place and to all the HIGHly skilled farmers who entered their best buds. The panel of 11 top judges, which included our Swami, deliberated over the 27 entries - a tough job but someone had to do it! Best of all, each of the 27 farms that entered received $200 as all profits from the event went back to them. It’s all about appreciating the farmers!

May is also the time to get our bodies moving as preparations for summer gardens, fire prevention and cleaning up the ranch for outdoor living kick into high gear. Our personal cannabis garden will be small - only 6 plants (the limit allowed in Mendocino County) gathered from starts from some of our favorite growers: Johnny Casali, Mark Greyshock and Marty Clein. Stay tuned for more on that.

To wrap up marvelous May is a highlight of the year, Swami’s birthday! He turned 83 years young and is feeling great!

|
Meanwhile, Nikki and her four older sisters took a short but sweet journey to Italy and Switzerland to visit ancestral sites - molto bene!
|
|
|
|
And now, on to summer … time does seem to go faster the older we get - all the more reason to be in the moment and cherish the sweetness of our many blessings. May Peace and Love Abound.

We are so excited and honored to host Jamie & Chiah from Arcanna Flowers for our next virtual meetup. They co-operate a Mendocino County small family brand grown on River Txai Farms. Not only did they win 1st Place in the 2026 Mendo Cup with their Fire Horse OG, Jamie also won Best Breeder for that same cultivar – a first in Mendo Cup history, for the same farm to win 1st Place and Best Breeder!

“We are a second generation cultivation couple, Jamie and Chiah, teaching our two boys who are now working on the farm as a family. We are an off grid, regenerative farm just starting our 29th year of cultivating together. We create and cultivate some unique proprietary genetics and put some tasty flavors out into the marketplace in our packaging. In fact our True Ryder OG won the California Cannabis State Fair for its high myrcene content under our farm’s name (River Txai Farms)!”

Chiah will only be with us for the beginning of the meeting, so don’t be late, folks!, But we really look forward to diving deeper with Jamie about his own relationship with the plant, and this region.
