What a glorious Croptober it has been! Perfect weather and ideal conditions for harvest, drying and starting the curing process. We managed to get our girls cut and inside before the last heavy rains. It may be the first year ever that there was no mold to report and powdery mildew vanished after Swami treated it in the garden.

Granted, it is a small crop compared to our years as licensed cultivators, but perhaps it is the fact that we can give so much attention to each of the few girls that they flourish from all the love and care.
|
|
|
|
Thanks to some good sunny days, as well as dehumidifiers and fans when the rain fell, the buds have dried to perfection. Now it is time to start the bucking down process and eventual trimming.
|
|
|
|
This is when Nikki really steps in, and appreciates the meditative time to just be with the plants and make them pretty.
|
|
|
|
The calm that descends while snipping away and being surrounded by autumn colors outside the window, a cozy fire in the woodstove and Swami, Tipu and Frisco kitty napping in the living room is precious.

|
|
|
Most winter prep chores are completed: summer furnishings stored inside, a healthy stash of wood in the shed, and pantry shelves full just in case we have a heavy snow year. The autumn has been spectacular, with warm days and cold nights down to freezing temperatures that create a blanket of frosty diamonds on the meadow in the morning.

|
The oaks have turned yellow and are dropping their leaves and the rains have already turned the meadow from summer brown to a lush carpet of green.
|
|
|
|
As we approach All Hallows Eve and the Day of the Dead, a time of year to turn inwards, to give thanks for our blessings and cast away fears. Life feels very good and rich. We honor those dear ones who have passed (this past month our beloved friend and cannabis advocate Terrance Alan for sure). Of course Tipu, always ready to party, is set to celebrate Halloween in his costume best!

On the final Wednesday of October, we were joined by our longtime friend and fellow Mendo farmer, Marty Clein of Martyjuana! We went deep on the interwoven topics of cannabis culture and cultivation, and we teased the audience about the upcoming release of Blue Swami, a brand new cultivar from Martyjuana!
