It's been a sweaty, but fun, summer so far. No one can recall such a long heat wave, almost two weeks of temps over 100 every day - the day it hit 116 in full sun we decided to stop checking!
The cannabis plants go into a stagnant shutdown period when it gets too hot, but as long as they had plenty of water they stayed healthy. Kind of like us - it was basically impossible to move in the middle of the day. Climate change is happening and we see it before us.
To celebrate Hash Week in San Francisco, we gladly went to the Cool Grey City of Love, our hometown, and the chilled fog was never more welcome. Plus what a great gathering, to celebrate "Frenchy Cannoli style hash" with his protegés Belle and Luna and the famous hookahs going full blast.
Madame Cannoli made the event extra "ooh-la-la", as Frenchy would have said, with French pastries and good strong coffee we enjoyed while watching the incredible film, "Frenchy Dreams of Hashish."
Most of the month, when not too hot, has been spent in the garden, growing veggies for the local Food Bank, and cleaning up the ranch. Though we are no longer a licensed cannabis business, we are still very involved in the community and remain on a mission to promote sungrown organic cannabis and produce from small craft farms in the Emerald Triangle. We will always be convinced that it is the best medicine in the world in every way!
One way to help was to produce the 3rd annual Mendocino Craft Farmers Auction which was again a huge success.
This year the MCFA was a silent auction, allowing followers to either come to the event and have a great time while placing their bids or to bid from anywhere in the world. A win-win for everyone, including Ethos Environmental, the 501c3 which was the beneficiary of all proceeds.
The auction was held at the picturesque Madrones in Anderson Valley, in their lovely new outdoor smoking lounge where simultaneously there was a local cannabis farmers market. It was a wonderful day sitting under the arbor, enjoying great weed and great friends.
To wrap up this very social month, the heat wave broke and made for a perfect day at Sonoma Hills Farm where about 50 special women from the world of cannabis gathered for the Queen of Hearts celebration.
Presented by Maya of OM Edibles and Jessica from Feeling Frosty, it was a glorious gathering complimented by lots of dabs and joints and excellent cuisine and so much more.
We all work hard in this business, and need to remember to take time to chill out with our cannabis compatriots.
And now it's time to focus on the exciting future, which includes the Emerald Cup on August 17 & 18 in Oakland at the Henry J Kaiser auditorium where we will announce the awards for Best Flower for our twentieth, and final, time.
Then on to more of the future, and planning for the next Club Swami event in San Francisco on Friday, September 6th. Be sure to get your tickets soon!

Peace and love to you all, Swami & Nikki
