September proved to be a balance between the big city - as in very big, as in New York City - and retreating in the silent embrace of our Mendocino garden.
|
|
It started out flying East across the country to Swami's old neck of the woods, where we explored the new world of cannabis legalization-in-limbo in the Empire State.
|
|
|
|
It was a warm welcome from our Left Coast tribe at the amazing “All Things Cannabis” event hosted by the kind folks at OMG Productions in Brooklyn. "Our event's design is to Elevate - Educate - Communicate with positive intention to break the stigma and liberate the flower," is how co-founder Aaron Avner described their mission. What an honor to be part of that vision!

Returning to the ranch after almost a week away, at this precious time of year when the girls in the garden are flowering and growing every second, revitalized our passions for the plant.
|
|
What joy to enter the gates and be enveloped by the lush greenness and the exotic sweet scent of a mix of rich terpenes.
|
|
|
|
As we led up to the full moon, they kept leaping higher and outwards with their full branches, reaching for the sky. Many buds are so thick and juicy and full of resin already, but they must be patient and wait for the perfect moment to be harvested. Just a few days now ...
|
After several really hot days mid-month, nature showed her mercurial temperament by pouring 3" of steady rain upon us for a few days. We were prepared, the plants had been well "yellow-leafed" and cleaned up to prevent mold and mildew and the summer ranch gear all put inside.
|
We can't recall ever having this much rain so early in the season, but can hardly complain as the parched earth and thirsty trees and wildlife and brave firemen all needed it so badly. So we huddled with a cozy fire in the woodstove and prayed the plants would be fine.

Once the sun appeared, and they received a good "blow drying" with the leaf blower, they seemed to be singing!
|
|
|
|
|
Harvest preparations are underway as we gear up again for that magical time of year.
|
