Our area of far northern Mendocino County was blessed with glorious and much-needed rain well into the second week of June - a strange but welcome phenomenon.
|
|
While the plants in the garden would have preferred more sunshine and warmer days and nights, they built up resilient strength for the hot season ahead.
|
|
|
|
|
|
During the cooler days, the garden and soil were prepared for planting and we did gender ID testing, to tell the girls from the boys to get them into the ground as soon as possible.
|
|
|
|
|
Now they are happy to be tucked into their rich soil and every day they get a bit taller and fuller under the power of the Sun, Moon & Stars.
|
With perfect timing, on the first official day of summer, the thermometer jumped way up and we knew that the dog days had arrived. Speaking of dogs, Tipu was thrilled to get out of his winter sweaters at last and head to the creek!

But our hot days were nothing compared to what Swami discovered in Phoenix at the Imperious Expo Convention. Along with Patrick King, Ed Rosenthal, Wendy Kornberg, and other NorCal legacy cannabis growers, Swami was there to share tales from the Emerald Triangle.

|
|
Arizona has come a long way in the world of cannabis and our farmers were there to spread the word about using regenerative techniques and conscious cultivation.

Back here in Mendo, several craft farmers gathered for another Cannabis Farmers Market in Laytonville. It was a hot summer day, with the meadow still green at MCD where it was held -- a perfect setting for a super fun time.
|
|
|
|
Anytime we can conduct direct sales to customers, and get to hear their stories and share ours at the same time, it is a real treat.
|
Now that summer is in full swing, and the girls are growing in the garden, we again count our blessings for living and cultivating in this sacred piece of paradise.
|
|
What a joy to kick back after a hard day's work in the sun, and smoke a fatty from last year's crop. Stay tuned for Secret Samadhi, Don Carlos, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Rose Lemonade coming to a store near you very soon!
